TikTok LIVE requirements: what you actually need to go LIVE
Age, followers, region, the missing LIVE button — and how joining a Creator Network changes the answer. Written for creators in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and the wider MENA region.

The short answer
- Age: 18 or over to host a LIVE and to send or receive gifts.
- Followers: TikTok's standard threshold is 1,000. Creators accepted into an official Creator Network are typically granted LIVE access without it.
- Region: your account must be in a country where TikTok LIVE is available. It is available across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the GCC without a VPN.
- Account standing: no recent Community Guidelines strikes.
- Equipment: a phone, decent internet and light. That's it.
TikTok's standard requirements to go LIVE
For a creator streaming alone, with no network, TikTok's rules are:
- Be at least 18. TikTok moved the LIVE hosting age from 16 to 18 in late 2022. Age is taken from your account's date of birth; if it was entered wrongly when the account was created, that's an account-level problem to fix with TikTok support, not something any agency can override.
- Have at least 1,000 followers. This is the "LIVE access" gate most people hit. It exists to keep low-effort and spam accounts out of LIVE.
- Be in a region where LIVE is available. TikTok LIVE is switched on in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and most of the MENA region.
- Have an account in good standing. Recent violations can suspend LIVE for a period even if you meet everything else.
Meet all four and the LIVE option appears under the record button. Miss any one and it doesn't.
How a Creator Network changes the requirements
Official TikTok LIVE Creator Networks work inside TikTok's LIVE Backstage tool and can request LIVE access for creators they enrol. In practice this means that a creator accepted into a network like ORO Live is typically granted the LIVE button regardless of follower count. It's the single biggest reason new creators join a network: you skip the months of grinding to 1,000 followers and start building your audience on LIVE itself, which is where TikTok audiences grow fastest.
What a network cannot change: the age rule, the region rule, and account-standing rules. A network that says it can make an under-18 creator LIVE, or move your account's region, is risking your account to make a sale.

Why can't I go LIVE? The LIVE button is missing
Work through this list in order. The first one that applies is usually the answer.

Region notes for MENA creators
Your TikTok account's region is set by where it was created and where it is mainly used — not by your passport. TikTok groups Creator Networks by region, and ORO Live is licensed for MENA. Notes by country:
- Saudi Arabia: LIVE fully available, no VPN, the largest TikTok audience in the region. Saudi creators page →
- UAE: LIVE fully available, no VPN. Expats whose accounts were created in the UAE are in the MENA region; accounts created back home may not be — apply and we'll check. UAE creators page →
- Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman: LIVE available. Strong gifting culture, especially Kuwait.
- Egypt: LIVE available; the biggest Arabic-speaking population on TikTok and a huge pool of viewers for Saudi and Gulf hosts too.
- Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen: LIVE available; Iraq in particular has a very active LIVE Match scene.
- Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya: LIVE available; Darija/Maghrebi content performs well with Gulf viewers who follow it for entertainment.

Equipment and internet: what's enough
Enough to start (most creators)
- A phone from the last 4–5 years with a working front camera
- Internet with 5 Mbps upload or better — test it; home fibre or 5G is ideal, crowded café Wi-Fi is not
- Light on your face: a window in daytime, a ring light at night
- A quiet room and a tripod or a stable prop
Nice later, not needed now
- External microphone (only once your room is consistently 50+)
- PC + TikTok LIVE Studio (for gaming and multi-camera formats)
- Backdrops, second lights, capture cards
How to go LIVE on TikTok, step by step
Once LIVE access is enabled on your account:
- Open TikTok and tap the + button.
- Swipe the options under the record button to LIVE. If LIVE isn't there, you don't have access yet — see above.
- Add a title and a cover. A title with a topic ("Answering your questions about moving to Riyadh") beats a title with only your name.
- Set goals and moderation. A gift goal, keyword filters, moderators and comment settings — all optional, all worth setting once you have regulars.
- Tap Go LIVE. Greet the first viewers by name, say what the stream is about in the first minute, and thank every gifter out loud.

How many followers do you need to go LIVE on TikTok?
TikTok's standard rule is 1,000 followers plus an age of 18 or over. Creators who join an official Creator Network such as ORO Live are typically granted LIVE access without meeting the 1,000-follower threshold.
How old do you have to be to go LIVE on TikTok?
18. TikTok raised the minimum age for hosting a LIVE to 18 in late 2022, and you must also be 18 or over to send or receive gifts. There's no way around it, and networks that claim otherwise are risking your account.
Why can't I go LIVE on TikTok?
Usually: fewer than 1,000 followers, an age under 18 on the account, LIVE not available in your account's region, recent guideline violations, or an outdated app. A Creator Network solves the follower issue; the rest need fixing on the account.
Can I go LIVE without 1,000 followers in Saudi Arabia?

Do I need a VPN for TikTok LIVE in Saudi Arabia or the UAE?
No. TikTok and TikTok LIVE are fully available in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the rest of the GCC. Using a VPN can put your account's region — and your network eligibility — at risk.
What equipment do I need?
